Waiting...
Waiting was written because
I have experienced the application of true love in my life after having waited so long. I experienced the
absence of my Mother in the most tender years of my life and there were many days and nights that I painfully longed
for her. When she would come visit me or come and get me to spend time with her, those were the greatest
moments in my young life. It was also so painful when she would go away. The greatest day was when she
finally came to take my brother and I away to live with her when I was fifteen. I can't remember
any other moment in my life that could compare to that day except when I discovered my wife would deliver our
first child. To truly be loved is the most powerful life giving force in the universe.

Without You
There
is a quote in the Bible that says: "Don't let the sun go down on your wrath." If you truly love
someone and you have unsettled differences, settle them while you have the opportunity. Tomorrow isn't
promised and you may not get a second chance.

The Best Is Yet To Come
This song is not a high
quality production. I included it because of it's content. My family and I were
going through a rough time when we first came to Colorado Springs, Colorado. A police officer
took us into his home and helped us to get on our feet. Unfortunately, after a while, his spouse wasn't
so happy with our presence and began to make things uncomfortable for us. It became a daily struggle
to maintain a positive spirit in the house. I was determined not to allow her to bring me down nor did I
allow this spirit to come between myself and my friend who brought us into his home (The Officer). Through all
of this tension came this song, "The Best Is Yet To Come". This was my way of creatively dealing
with the stress.
LYRICS
Children Are Waiting
In 2007 I met Miss Colorado, Jessica Urban. She shared with me that she had a desire to start a foundation
for homeless and deprived children. I have always been in support of children and teens.
She had a harp in the coffee shop, "All That Java" that her family owned. I asked her to pluck
a note on it and out of that tone I wrote on the spot this song, "Children Are Waiting"...

Nice
My Mother passed
away last year. For most people, that's an experience you
never really want to have but it's a reality. We all have our day to arrive and leave this earth. I'm happy
to say I have no regrets. My Brothers and I cared for and nursed my mother till she took her last breath.
We even carried her to the restroom when she could no longer walk. The hospice nurses couldn't believe
how well we cared for our mother. All the nurse had to do was bring the meds and we
did the rest. My mother took her suffering well and when she passed, we were able to take it just as well
because we all suffered together. We all know what true love is all about. This song was written for her
before she passed. "It would be nice just to see you - It would be nice just to touch you - It would be nice just to hold you in my arms because it's you" - I love you, Mama.

No Me Without You
Being an
artist and trying to raise a family is a very difficult task. So many have tried and failed because it takes
a lot of time to be an artist and twice as much time to raise a family, especially if you intend to bond. I've
watched people in my family, other families and artists, who before they made it in the industry, try and lose one or the other. I struggled with this. I remember one day praying to God, how in the world could I possibly accomplish my goals as an artist without loosing my family? The answer was to combine the two; to put my family directly in the center of my art and allow them to become my songs, my instruments and
my melody. At that very moment I called my wife and children up to my room were I was recording in Wilmington,
Delaware and "No Me Without You" was born.
Today I still compose, perform, record and produce music.
My five children are all very gifted and talented in their own right. My success has been raising them. I
have my Father in Heaven to thank for that. The voices you hear in the song are of my wife and children.
Lyrics
Homicide
Our children are being desensitized
into disrespecting and slaughtering one another. Our children don't produce guns, alcohol, nor drugs but our
inner-cities are filled with them. Add poverty and pressure and what do you get ? You do the math. One day
you will drink the water you have poisoned. Pray for our Nation!
Lyrics
Come Together !
I
remember one day I was so angry with the world; with what we believe to be God, my self, everything... I just couldn't
believe the state that we are in. How could such a magnificent creation become so foolishly destructive? I remember questioning God. How could He let such a thing happen? My heart was just so full of sadness
and confusion and at the same time feeling totally helpless, I began to realize that these are choices that we
have made. We are all responsible. Together, if we stand divided; we surely fall. It's
up to us all to do something about what's wrong with the world we live in. The last man standing will
be the one that has made the best decision not only for himself but for everyone else. That decision will
be a rightious one, guaranteed. Let's Come Together!

When Love Is Home
Home is where Love should be, for without it, a house is not a home. I remember when our Family
Home burned down in Wilmington, Delaware, our family went through some trying times... we moved around in
a few motels and ended up in a condemed house that one of our friends owned. We called it "The Shack":
no bathroom, no kitchen, holes in the ceiling where we could see the sky... We bought a small portable one- burner, one-pot electric stove to cook on. We have five children, so there were seven in my family and we also housed three others. All together there were (10) ten people in "The Shack". Believe
it or not, we were doing independent, creative community work at the time: "Empower The Gift"
which is based upon our homeschool curriculum for our five children. We were sharing the gifts of modern technology
and teaching young men in the hood how to create, record, produce and manufacture their own Music/Rap/Beat CD recordings. This was to encourage entrepreneurialism in the community and another way to express ourselves and
vent our negative emotions without violence. The determination and drive we had was unbelievable, especially under
the conditions. The first night we stayed there sleeping on an air mattress on the floor, in what was supposed
to be the living room, my little boy began to cry. He said, "I want to go home..." He didn't
understand why we had to be there. I had to create a story for him so that he could cope. My wife Kalena
took a knife and a crayon and creatively drew and wrote our mission statment and vision on the front room wall to
remind us of our purpose. Today we continue our creative ministry and mission to empower others with our
gifts. We were relocated by churches in Colorado Springs and moved to Colorado where we continue our mission.
Without the power of Love for God and one another, this would not have been possible. This story is much more intense
and I hope to share it in detail in the future. No amount of money could have given us the strength we have
today.

The Banner Waves
My Uncle
Wilson K. Smith built the first African-American Congressional Medal of Honor Recepient Monument. The Wilson K. Smith
Walk and Monument are located in Wilmington, Delaware. The original momument is located in the Pentagon in Washington,
D.C.. When Wilson was in elementary school, his class went on a field trip to learn about military war heroes.
He observed that there were no Black war heroes. He asked his teacher were there any Black heroes and she stated she
didn't know and that he might want to research that. He did just that for 40 years. He researched, created
and developed what is now The African-American Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Monument with the help of then
Delaware Senator Joe Biden, now Vice-President Joseph Biden and President George Bush. Wilson K. Smith's monument
is now officially part of American History. Uncle Mickey asked me to write a song then commemorating
the unveiling and dedication ceremony at the Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware, with White House Representatives
present, a 21 gun and canon salute with jets flying overhead. Since then, The Banner Waves
has been heard nationally on the radio right after 9/11 and was broadcast from Ground Zero, on the 1st year anniversary.
The Banner Waves was re-recorded at The Dream Center in Colorado Springs, CO. and features speaking messages
from Kaweah Red Elk, Michael Anidobe and Debo Afunja. The Banner is Love ...

Wanting You
Some
years ago, I used to talk to a young lady that was in a relationship that she was unhappy with. She began to tell me how he was so nice to her and how she fell in love with him. After sometime in the relationship,
she discovered a letter and some pictures of his wife and child. She was very distraught, confussed and
saddened. Once your feelings and emotions are invested in someone, it's not always easy to disconnect.
There was a piano at the location where we were having this discussion. I asked her to get a pencil and pad and
I began to compose this song for her. I composed and she wrote it down as I created it. The song is
"Wanting You" and was about her situation. She fell in love with the song. The lady is now my wife.
True Story.
Lyrics
A Man
Our society has decided that
it has more need of our women and children than we as men. I've taken notice of how our society's
depiction and treatment of men has become over the years. We are expected to be strong, responsible and insensitive.
Hollywood portrays us as lust demons, gay or baffoons. A man that exercises authority in his home is labeled
an abuser. The rest get influenced to enlist in war or work themselves to death. Those who are fortunate
enough to have a real man in their lives; to guide them through lifes' experiences and help them to
establish a solid foundation are some of the most fortunate people in the world.
My own father didn't
raise me but I salute my uncles and my grandfather for being the men I needed in my life. They are the reason for
this song. I'm greatful to them for being there for me and all of the other young men in our family.
Thank you for being "A Man"...
